Submission Instructions:

Eligibility Criteria for Submission:

· The manuscript should be of publishable quality, but not necessarily published.  Literature reviews and case reports are acceptable.

· The manuscript should be less than 5000 words of text in length, excluding Abstract, Tables, Figures, and References. 

· A manuscript that has been accepted for publication or one that has been published during this past year (since July 2023) is eligible for submission.  However, the original manuscript version submitted to the journal prior to reviewer comments is the version that should be submitted for this competition.

· The primary author is a SRAlab Employee at the time of submission OR Northwestern Research Postdoctoral Fellow, Graduate Student, Resident or Fellow doing work at SRAlab.

· The work was conducted at SRAlab or at NU.


The quality of the manuscript will be judged based on:

· Background literature and rationale

· Soundness of research design OR Significance of case report

· Innovation/Originality

· Impact

· Writing quality

$25,000 for Early-Career Investigators with a Ready-to-Go Project
 SRAlab early-career investigators (assistant/associate professor level) with a “shovel-ready” idea are invited to apply for two pilot awards from the Center for Smart Use of Technology to Assess Real World Outcomes (C-STAR). 

Projects must be ready to launch immediately upon funding due to the short funding period. They must also be relevant to C-STAR’s mission to support the smart use of technology to assess sensorimotor and cognitive function in the lab, clinic, and community.

Key Details

  • Each award offers up to $25,000 in direct costs for a 9-month project 
  • No-cost extensions will not be permitted. All projects must be completed by 4/30/26.
  • Applications must include IRB approval. 
  • Anticipated start date of June 1, 2025, pending NIH approval. 
  • Applications are due Friday, April 25, 2025.
